I have a bachelor's degree from Saint Louis University with majors in English and Communications. My experience includes teaching English in Texas high schools for many years through the Teach for America program. I worked with a wide variety of students on different levels, from students needing remedial help with basic skills, to Advanced Placement Literature classes. My favorite subject is Literature, and I am most interested in British works. At the same time, I highly value writing and jump at the opportunity to improve students' skills in this area. My tutoring subjects include all high school level English areas, such as literary analysis, writing, reading, grammar, essays, and test prep.My goal when tutoring is to find a way to engage the student with the content. I use contemporary and relevant examples to give students access to literary works. I start with material from movies and TV that the students are interested in to lead them into more difficult books that they tend to resist exploring.Besides tutoring, I am working on a master's degree in Film Production. I spend my time writing fiction, and then I film the stories I've created. I also enjoy comic books and music.
